Swing of power
There's a song by Alice Cooper called Black Widow (from Welcome to my Nightmare) in which one of the lines is:
I feel that man has ruled this world as a stumbling, demented child-king long enough.
This springs to mind when I think about the natural disasters that seem to be gaining both power and frequency. Is it time that man realized en-masse that we don't control what goes on around us and the sooner we fit in with what happens the better off we will be and perhaps the longer we will last as a race.
Who's going to be better off if there is a huge eathquake, tsunami or other (combination of) natural disaster that effectively ends the way we live our lives now. I would rather be on very good terms with someone who has access to and knows how to benefit from the arable land around us. New Zealand has a good supply of replenishing potable water, arable land and enough natural resource to be completely self-sufficient should the need ever arise.
The planet is beginning to exert its power and it is a reminder to us all that we are extremely vulnerable to any changes in our environment.
As always it is an exciting time.
